Who Are We?

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the lives of pets and their families by empowering their owners through education.

By providing reliable pet care information for small and exotic pets.

What We Strive For

We strive to create a world where small and exotic pet care is common knowledge. All small and exotic pets’ needs are met, including enclosure specifications, veterinary care, and special needs animals.

A world where small and exotic pet care information is easily accessible to everyone, and people are confident in their pet care knowledge and resources at hand. About financial aid for their pets, basic pet care, advanced behavioral knowledge, and what they need and what should be avoided. This way, every animal is well cared for and pampered instead of suffering from owners who are stressed and confused about what their pets need.

We Are Pet Owners

I’ve owned fish, 2 rabbits named Milo and Heather, a Caviliar King Charles Spaniel named Meme(Mi-Mi), and 5 hamsters!

We Love Our Pets

Our pets are part of our family. We are there for them and want them to be happy. Whenever they have a need, we do our best to fill it so they can thrive. They’re spoiled, healthy, and loving every second of it.

We Value True Pet Care

We do our research and look through multiple scientific studies. With that and the combined experience of breeders and pet care experts, we provide you the best up to date pet care possible.

We Use Our Knowlege

We use the same knowledge we’re giving you to make sure our pets and yours live the best life they can. If we find a mistake in our pet care, we find the best solution and share it with you.

We Are Ethical

Pet Welfare Over Unethical Profit
We do not take advantage of unethical chances for more profit. We will not sell/recommend unsafe products or promote unsafe practices.
Realistic Standards
…We’re Not Perfect. We believe: Perfection is on the horizon. Reaching it is impossible, but every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.
Always Room To Improve
We value your feedback and want to hear your ideas to make ReliaPet even better! Let us know your suggestions in our Discord in the suggestions and feedback channel, or on our Contact Us page.

Why the Fox?

We chose the domesticated fox to be our logo because they only came into existence in the last 100 years and are still in active domestication. They are one of the newest, followed close behind by sugar gliders entering the US in the 1990’s. They are the pioneer pets.

For this reason, we see domesticated foxes as an example to the always changing pet care community. New species entering and pre-existing standards being turned on their heads by newer, more robust information.

ReliaPet's Owner

Hello, I am Jay Gena. I’ve been an animal lover ever since I could remember. I also have a passion for reading and research. When I saw how much misinformation was out there about small and exotic pets, I combined that love and passion with my persistence… although my family calls it stubbornness…. to learn all the skills I needed to create ReliaPet.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this. Learning how to make a website as you build it is a lot of work. So I am glad I was clueless at the time, because I’ve learned and done so much. I really hope it helps as many pets and their people as possible.

ReliaPet is Woman Owned and Operated

ReliaPet is an innovative small business completely owned by women.

Even all the ReliaPet™ hamsters are girls

They insist on sunflower seeds as payment.

As the head of a woman-owned business, I take pride in providing free, reliable pet care information. My goal is to improve the welfare of every pet on the planet.

Unfortunately, while I care deeply about providing free information to ensure it helps as many pets and people as possible, running a website is not equally free. Among the charges are hosting, website add-ons, and thousands of hours of work and research in my free time over the past 3 years.

If you enjoy ReliaPet and would like to support us in continuing to provide these services, you can buy us a coffee on Ko-Fi or buy something from our shop. Your support helps keep ReliaPet open to the public, funds upgrades, shop expansions, and more. It is greatly appreciated!

Your Contribution
will allow us to dedicate more time to the website. This means increased article publishing, faster improvements, and more!

Your support
helps us expand our outreach, so more people can learn reliable pet care information instead of looking at a sketchy pet store pamphlet.

With your boost,
We can improve our website speed. This creates a better experience for everyone, and makes Google happy so more people can find us!

Your generosity
will accelerate the growth of our small business. From covering day to day expenses to funding expansion, we ensure no penny goes to waste. Thank you!
